Evolution Gaming to build first live studio outside of Europe

BCLC deal with Evolution GamingLive dealer casino provider, Evolution Gaming, is looking to expand outside of Europe with a studio planned for Canada.

The new studio will be the company’s eighth and it will be set up in the Metro Vancouver area of British Columbia before the end of 2017.

The 16,000 square feet studio is the first studio to be built outside Europe and is the result of an agreement between the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).

The Stockholm-based live dealer provider offers players the chance to join blackjack, roulette, poker and other tables run by real dealers. They are streamed in real time via web technology so players can access land-based casino games from home.

The five-year agreement, with renewal options, will see 10 online live tables, available on desktop, tablets and smartphones, streamed via the BCLC’s online gambling website.

Evolution Gaming’s new Canadian studio will also support additional Canadian gaming operators in the future, with government-run online gambling sites available in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and the Atlantic provinces.

The live casino game company has announced there is the potential for over 170 local jobs to be created in Vancouver as a result of the new studio.

Evolution Group CEO, Martin Carlesund, has said expanding outside the European market is incredibly valuable.

“Entering the Canadian market with BCLC signifies a huge breakthrough outside of our European operations,” he said.

“Through this new partnership, we are confident we will deliver the very best Live Casino experience for BCLC players, and an exceptional Live Casino studio facility for BCLC and other Canadian lottery jurisdictions in the future.”

BCLC currently offers lottery operations at retail outlets, along with gambling solutions at land-based casinos, bingo halls, and online. A portion of revenue from BCLC goes back into the community, including funding health care and education initiatives in the province of British Columbia.

BCLC’s Vice-President of eGaming, Monica Bohm, said the agreement will be mutually beneficial.

“We are delighted to enter into this agreement with Evolution, to bring the thrill of live, interactive casino gaming to our online players.

“New and innovative products like Live Casino will help BCLC continue to deliver the very best in gambling entertainment to our players while benefiting communities across British Columbia.”

Evolution Gaming has made big moves to expand globally, recently pairing with Codere to enter the Mexican market. While the company won’t be setting up a studio in the country, it will allow Mexican players access to it extensive live dealer catalogue.
